Field Day Lab Blends Art and Science for Video Games That Teach, Engage


Field Day's newest game is Project Hercules, an astrophysics primer that invites players to become Astrid, an astronomer working in the year 2098 to identify objects in the night sky and uncover the mystery of an impending celestial event. The game uses research from WIPAC's IceCube Neutrino Observatory.

2025 MSAN Student Conference Offers Equitable Paths to ‘American Dream’


The conference, to be held Nov. 12–15 in Arlington, Va., is offered every fall for high school students by WCER’s Multicultural Student Achievement Network (MSAN). The program seeks to develop student leaders dedicated to ending racial disparities in schools while cultivating belonging, increasing achievement, and expanding opportunities.

Improving College Access


In a groundbreaking project led by researcher Taylor Odle, which could reshape the national college admissions landscape, the state of Tennessee launched TN Direct Admissions last week. This pilot program offers automatic college admission and personalized financial aid estimates to approximately 41,000 high school seniors.
